This is a problem in many areas. My own hometown faces similar issues, with wealthy outsiders buying property and pricing locals out of the market. It is a symptom of global inequality, and of how the rich cities are rapidly leaving behind and then displacing poorer rural areas. A form of modern colonialism maybe.
