As far as I understand, Schrodinger's Cat was intended to show the absurdity of quantum mechanics. That something as big as a cat can't possible be in a superposition of being dead and alive at once. But as often happens with quantum mechanics, it turns out the absurd was close to what we understand to be the truth.
